The Maitreya Project brought sacred relics to Chùa Việt Nam (the temple where I volunteer), so we were busy busy busy.
Then it was the Trung Thu aka the Moon Festival. So, it was moon cake making day and night to get orders out.

With the moon festival behind me it was time to enter the Puyallup Fair's Professional Fresh Floral Design Competition. I entered 8 designs and won ribbons for 7 of them, and one best in show. Here they are....

Hello em Hoang! I do love reading your blog. Would like to thank you for sharing all your fantastic and easy recipes. Some of your recipes do bring back found memories of my time in Hanoi! I have been missing some of the Vietnamese dishes but from your blog now I can try making them myself. Thank you once again!
Oh wow! I didn't know those circular 'pia' pastries were Teochiu (Trieu Chau). My family is Teochiu but my parents were born in Vietnam. My grandma used to make those pastries and we called them "bia" - essentially meaning pastry or cookie in Chinese. :)
