There is very little butter in this recipe, yet it has a rich buttery taste. Weird huh?

Ingredients:

-2 egg yolks
-90g tapioca starch
-40g flour
-1/3 tsp baking powder
-few drops yellow coloring (optional)
-60g sugar
-2 tbs sweetened condense milk
-1 tbs melted butter

What to Do:
Mix together tapioca starch, flour and baking powder. Beat the egg yolks with the sugar until light and lemoned colored. Add yellow coloring, condensed milk, and butter. Add flour mixture. Rest dough for 1/2 hour. Preheat oven to 350'F, divide dough into 10-12 portions. Roll each portion into small balls and place on a cookie sheet. Bake for about 10-15 mins.

hi, I have all the ingredients at home except for condense milk, just out of curiosity, do you think it would work with coconut cream instead of condense milk?
thanks.

it probably won't work since condensed milk contains sugar and coconut milk does not. Then again...who knows...play with your food and find out. ;P

Hi hoangtam, I tried this recipe but somehow my batch was so soft and not "puffy" at all. Is it supposed to have a texture like cookie?

Hi, could you please advise me on a sweet called 'Da Lon Dau'? i used to buy it often here in australia (in Asian supermarkets) quite a few years ago...
Is this a common sweet or would it be more of a 'family' recipe?
I can't seem to find it anymore and the closest I can get would be 'Kueh Lapis', which is similar but doesn't have the sweet mung bean layer.
Is there a recipe available for this or possibly an alternative name....which would explain some of the curious looks i've received when asking about it - although my pronunciation is probably way wrong!!
Cheers to your blogs and recipes... really interesting site.
